Aspherical Lenses

In order to achieve superior image quality, the RF50mm f/1.4L VCM uses one glass-molded (GMo) aspherical lens and one replica aspheric lens to suppress spherical aberration and image distortion.

UD Lens

The RF50mm f/1.4L VCM uses one single Ultra-Low Dispersion (UD) lens element with low refraction and low dispersion, reducing axial and chromatic aberrations to deliver higher image quality.

Air Sphere Coating

Air Sphere Coating (ASC) with anti-reflection technology suppresses ghosting and reduces flare for clear and high contrast images even when shooting backlit subjects.

Mesmerising Bokeh

The large f/1.4 aperture, paired with its 11-blade circular design, creates beautifully smooth bokeh and a cinematic out-of-focus effect. It also allows for faster shutter speeds or lower ISO settings, making it perfect for capturing crisp images even in low-light conditions.

Superior Quality Up-Close

Experience stunning, edge-to-edge clarity, even in close-up shots, with up to 0.15x magnification and a minimum focusing distance of just 0.4m.

Capture beauty in every detail, no matter how close you get.

Focus Breathing Correction

When recording videos, a typical phenomenon that occurs is a 'pulsing effect' in the footage whereby the camera's angle of view changes slightly during focus racking.
